  • Every great commercial design starts with a spark of inspiration. In the So Next Year Studio, your creative vision is the most important ingredient. You bring the aesthetic; our AI engine acts as your technical translator, extracting the "DNA" of your inspiration to help you build flawless, market-ready patterns.

    There is no single right way to begin. The Studio is built to analyse visual data from anywhere:

    • Digitize Your Own Art: Upload photographs of your physical paintings, hand-drawn sketches, or previously finished digital designs to evolve them into seamless collections.

    • 📸 Scan Inspiration (The Mobile Advantage): Out and about? Use the Scan Inspiration button directly from your mobile device. Whether you spot a striking colour palette in a boutique, a vintage texture in a museum, or architectural details in a gallery, you can snap a live photo on the fly. You can also use the scanner to pull directly from your phone's camera roll to extract the vibe of past photos.

    • The Quick Paste: Gathering a mood board? If you find an inspiring vibe or layout on the web, simply copy and paste the image directly into the Studio (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V).

    Never Lose a Concept Every image you scan, paste, or upload is automatically analysed and securely saved to your private Cloud Vault. Simply click the History button to retrieve your past scans and uploaded inspiration—complete with their extracted colour palettes and SEO data—whenever you are ready to design.

  • Upload a photo of a fabric, wallpaper, or sketchbook doodle either using the Scan Inspiration button/ camera or add an image from your own files or the internet. Our Gemini-powered engine will instantly extract the 8 dominant hex colours, identify the core motifs, keywords and break down the exact aesthetic style.

  • Hitting a creative wall? Select a theme (e.g., "70s Retro Floral" or "Scandi Folk Art") and click Inspire. The AI will generate a highly marketable, commercially viable design recipe for you.

  • While your uploaded image provides the soul of the design, our Deep Visual Analysis is where the true reconstruction happens. The Gemini 3.1 Pro engine doesn't just copy your image; it completely redefines it. It strips away the noise to extract the exact 8-color hex palette, identifies the core structural motifs, and maps the layout style. It takes your raw inspiration and turns it into a precise, highly engineered prompt ready for commercial generation.

  • For our Professional and Enterprise users, the Studio offers advanced control over how your visual analysis translates into commercial strategy. Use the Brand Voice dropdown to dictate how the AI interprets and markets your design. Shift your narrative from Standard to Luxury / Haute Couture, Playful / Whimsical, Minimalist, or define a completely Custom Persona tailored to your brand. The AI will instantly adapt your product's Tagline, Blurb, and SEO Hashtags to speak directly to your target demographic.

How to Edit

  • Generating a pattern is only the beginning. Our suite of proprietary, browser-based studios gives you complete destructive and non-destructive editing control over your rendered assets, right in the app.

  • Even the best AI can leave a stray pixel. Studio Edit gives you a digital workspace to make precise, manual corrections without leaving the platform. You have granular control over your tools: adjust your Brush Size, Flow, and Softness for delicate blending or razor-sharp edge work. Use the Clone Stamp to seamlessly duplicate elements, the Eraser to clean up negative space, and the "Contiguous Magic Fill" bucket—complete with an adjustable Tolerance Scale—to execute perfect, instant colour swaps on specific motifs without bleeding into surrounding pixels.

  • Completely remap the mood of your master tile in seconds. Our engine dynamically maps your custom gradients across the tonal values of your pattern, allowing you to instantly create cohesive, multi-colour collections from a single design.

    • The Editor: Build complex gradients from scratch. Use the custom Color Picker to define specific hues, and precisely control the blend by choosing to Add Stop or Remove stops along the slider. Already have a brand palette? Simply paste standard CSS gradient codes directly into the importer.

    • Library & Magic Batch: Once you engineer the perfect seasonal palette (e.g., "Spring 2025"), Save it to your personal Library so you can load it onto any future design. Depending on your tier, you can "star" up to 6 Active Batch Favorites. When you trigger the Magic Batch command, the Studio will automatically generate multiple variations of your pattern using these exact saved favorites simultaneously.

    • Flexible Export Pipelines: We give you multiple ways to deploy your newly recoloured designs:

      • Download Recoloured Image: A rapid, standard-res download straight to your local device.

      • Upscale 4K & Save to Cloud: Enhances the new colourway to commercial print resolution and securely backs it up to your History Vault.

      • Analyse & Save to Cloud: Processes your new colourway through our highly optimised, proprietary internal engine to update your design data and save it securely to your Vault.

      • Download Social (Watermarked): Instantly exports a web-ready, protected version of the new colourway for immediate social media sharing.

  • Flat designs do not sell fabrics. The Fabric & Texture Studio allows you to weave digital threads directly into your artwork to create photorealistic textile finishes.

    • The Foundation: Start by applying Procedural (Live Math) textures—such as Pure Grain, Canvas Weave, or Distress Scratches—or select from our standard Premium Fabrics library, including Raw Linen and Woven Canvas.

    • Precision Control: Fine-tune the tactile feel of your design. Adjust the Texture Intensity and use the Grain Adjustment tools (Scale, Pan X, and Pan Y) to perfectly align the weave with your motifs. Finally, utilise professional Blend Modes (like Soft Light, Multiply, or Colour Burn) to ensure the physical texture realistically interacts with your colours.

    • Unlock Pro & Enterprise Tools: Higher-tiered users gain absolute textural freedom. Upgrading to Pro unlocks exclusive premium fabrics (like Soft Cotton and Velvet Devoré) and grants the ability to Upload your own custom texture masks. Most importantly, Pro users gain access to the ✨ AI Texture Generator, allowing you to engineer and render entirely bespoke physical textures on the fly using a custom text prompt.

  • While the standard generation engine is fantastic for fluid, organic layouts, some designs require strict mathematical precision. The Custom Alpha Mask Studio is an advanced compositional tool that forces the AI to obey precise geometric boundaries, allowing you to engineer highly structured patterns like damasks, trellises, and geometric tiles.

    • The Geometry Engine: Quickly build your base structure using our built-in shape library, which includes precision vectors such as the Circle, Square, Diamond, Star, Oval (Horiz/Vert), and Torus (Ring). You can instantly drop these into the centre of your 512x512 Master Tile and use the Live Frame Adjustment sliders (Scale, Pan X, Pan Y) to perfectly align your composition.

    • Advanced Mask Manipulation: Take total control over the negative space. Use the Invert Negative Space button to instantly flip your masked areas, or soften harsh geometric lines using the Opacity and Blur sliders. You can even adjust the overall weight of the mask using the Thickness (Bloat/Shrink) controls.

How to Refine

  • While the AI Analysis engine extracts the DNA of your inspiration, the Design Builder gives you the steering wheel. Before a single pixel is generated, you have infinite variables at your fingertips to engineer the exact commercial asset you need.

    You have total, granular control over every aspect of your design:

  • You are never locked into the AI’s initial analysis. You can rewrite the prompt entirely, craft multiple variations, or manually add and remove specific motifs and keywords.

  • Did you just build the perfect combination of keywords, layout, and style? Save it! You can pin your favourite Prompt Recipes at the top of the builder, allowing you to instantly recall them later to build highly cohesive, multi-piece collections.

  • Choose to generate using the AI-extracted colour palette, or take over manually. Use our custom colour picker to build a bespoke palette (up to 8 colours). If you create a stunning colourway, you can save it to your Cloud Vault to ensure brand consistency across future collections.

  • Effortlessly tweak the scale of your main motifs—from dense, micro-ditsy prints to bold, macro-statement pieces—and adjust the negative space between elements.

  • Tell the AI exactly how this pattern will be used so it can render the flow correctly. Choose from rigid, structured formats like Wallpaper and Gift Wrap, or fluid, draping formats like Apparel Fabrics.

  • You have the power to completely override the analysed style or seamlessly blend it with a new one.

    ⚠️ Pro-Tip for Style Blending: Always double-check your final prompt to avoid conflicting instructions! For example, if you change your main style to a "Soft Watercolour Wash," ensure you remove keywords like "Razor-sharp, flat 2D vector graphic" from your modifiers. If the AI receives two opposite instructions, it will compromise and produce blurry results. Give the AI a clear, unified direction!

  • Fine-tune the AI's rendering rules by toggling our strict generation constraints:

    • Seamless Pattern: Forces the AI to mathematically align the edges for infinite repeating tiles.

    • Layout Style: Toggle between an All-Over/Tossed coverage or an Island/Bouquet style with clear background space.

    • High Detail & Perfect Anatomy: Instructs the AI to heavily prioritize structural logic and intricate details. (Note: Our Perfect Anatomy engine pushes the absolute limits of current state-of-the-art AI. As Google Vertex AI releases newer, more advanced models, our Studio backend automatically upgrades to ensure you always have the best rendering capabilities available).

    You have engineered the perfect prompt, dialed in your layout, and set your colourway. You have built a commercial-grade design recipe... and you haven't even clicked "Generate" yet.

History

  • Your History panel acts as the central hub for all your creative outputs.

  • You can filter your view using the dropdown menu at the top to display the "Last 75 Items" or "Show All Items". Each entry displays a thumbnail preview alongside its unique text description and the specific date it was either analysed or generated.

    • For standard analysed items, you have access to a 'Master' button, a 'Copy Text' button to grab the AI-generated descriptions, and a 'Delete' button to manage your storage.

    • When an item has been fully generated, the system unlocks additional sharing capabilities, providing you with a 'Social' button and a 'Share Post' button directly within the panel.

How to Generate

  • When you are ready to render, you have two core deployment options:

    • 1x Seamless: The rapid prototyper. Use this to generate a single high-fidelity tile to quickly test how your prompt, layout, and colors are interpreting your instructions.

    • 3x Seamless (Batch Generation): The professional workflow. Why rely on one outcome? This command instructs the AI to simultaneously render three distinct variations of your recipe. Review the batch, pick the tile with the best structural flow, and discard the rest.

  • In commercial design, a pattern is useless if it doesn't repeat perfectly. Our custom QA Viewer gives you the tools to inspect your master tile like a professional print house:

    • Zoom & Pan: Use the standard zoom tools (or Reset Zoom) to inspect micro-details and texture rendering up close.

    • Tiling Views (1x, 2x2, 4x4): Never guess how a pattern flows. Click 2x2 Tile to see a basic repeat, or click 4x4 Tile to zoom out and ensure there are no unwanted "tracks," grid lines, or heavy visual weights ruining the overall flow.

    • Edges: Toggle the glowing Edges button to overlay a strict boundary grid. This allows you to visually verify that every motif crossing the border mathematically aligns with the opposite side.

    • Scan: Run the automated AI inspector to hunt for melted motifs or anatomical anomalies before you commit to the design.

  • Once your master tile passes QA, you can route it through our four specialized editing suites found on your main toolbar:

    • 🖌️ Studio Edit: Grab the digital brush. Use the Clone Stamp, Eraser, or Magic Fill to manually touch up tiny imperfections.

    • 🎨 Gradient Studio: Completely remap your colorway using complex multi-stop gradients or CSS codes.

    • 🧶 Texture Studio: Weave digital threads. Apply physical, AI-generated fabrics (like Corduroy or Canvas) directly onto your flat design.

    • 📐 Mask Studio: Force your design into strict vector boundaries (like Ogee or Hexagon tiles) to build highly structured damasks and trellises.

  • For designers operating at a commercial scale, the Studio offers tier-locked features designed to maximize output and print quality:

    • ✨ Magic Batch (Batch Recolour): Found an incredible pattern but need a Spring, Autumn, and Winter collection? Magic Batch allows you to instantly generate multiple new colorways of your approved master tile with a single click.

    • ✨ 4K Upscale: The ultimate print-ready tool. Instantly enhance your standard master tile to crisp, commercial-grade 4K resolution, ensuring razor-sharp edges for large-scale textile printing and manufacturing.

    • (Note: Once your tile is finalized, always hit the green Save to Cloud button to secure your asset in your History Vault!)

Mockups and Social Media

  • Before presenting your patterns, you can configure custom 3D environments.

    • Accessing the Manager: Navigate to the 'Social Media & Mockups' menu and click the 'Manage 8 Mockup Slots' button.

    • Configuring Slots: The Mockup Studio Manager allows you to label your 8 available slots with custom names, such as 'Blouse1', 'Stylish man', or 'Wallpaper_bedroom'.

    • Uploading Assets: Click the 'Browse 3D Mockups' button to upload your transparent PNG masks and optional background JPG files. The system will automatically compress and save these files directly to your browser for quick access.

    • Verification: Green checkmarks will illuminate to confirm when your 'BG Loaded' and 'Mask Loaded' successfully. You can reset any slot by clicking the red 'Clear' button.

  • Once your slots are prepared, you can drape your seamless patterns over the 3D models.

    • Selecting a Slot: In the Mockup View screen, use the dropdown menu in the top left to choose from Slot 1 through Slot 8. Be aware that some slots may display a padlock icon, indicating tier restrictions.

    • Structural Adjustments: With your pattern applied to the mockup subject, use the top sliders to fine-tune the structural fit: adjust the 'Scale', 'Rotate' the flow, alter the 'Persp' (Perspective), or tweak the 'Tilt X' and 'Tilt Y' axes.

    • Lighting and Realism: To ensure the pattern blends naturally into the environment, manipulate the 'Shadow', 'Light', 'Warp', and 'Temp' (Temperature) sliders.

    • Zoom and Save: Utilise the vertical slider on the right side of the canvas to zoom in and out of your composition. Once perfected, hit the green 'Lock Defaults' button to save your slider settings, or use 'Reset' to return to the baseline.

  • Transform your master tiles into formatted, protected marketing campaigns in seconds.

    • Loading Your Vault: Open the Social Campaign Studio and click the 'Load Vault' button. This populates a grid of your saved designs, clearly labelling standard 'Master' tiles and high-resolution '4K' exports.

    • Selecting Formats: Choose your desired designs from the grid, then look to the 'Campaign Settings' panel. Under 'Export Format', you can choose to format your assets for an 'Instagram Square (1:1)', an 'IG/TikTok Story (9:16)', a 'Pinterest Pin (2:3)', or an 'FB Link Preview'.

    • Applying Overlays: You can automatically add context to your images by ticking the 'Add Title & Tagline' box, or protect your intellectual property by ticking the 'Apply Branding Watermark' box.

      • Pro Tip for Watermarks: Pro users can configure their watermark by returning to the 'Social Media & Mockups' menu, using the 'Choose File (Pro)' button to upload a custom 'Watermark PNG', and setting the exact 'Opacity' percentage using the provided slider.

    • Batch Export: Once your settings are locked in, click the purple 'Export Campaign (.zip)' button to download all selected assets neatly packaged together.

  • If you need to distribute a single design immediately, bypass the Campaign Studio entirely.

    • Navigate to your History panel and click the 'Share Post' button next to a generated design.

    • This will trigger your device's native share dialogue. For example, you can share your exported file (like 'sonextyear_design.jpg') instantly via 'Nearby Sharing', send it directly to 'My Phone', or push it to connected applications such as 'Instagram', 'WhatsApp', or 'Outlook'.
